Even if your child speaks clearly, you might notice them tripping over big academic words like specific, aluminum, or hospitalization. This is not a "speech impediment" in the traditional sense; it is a difficulty mapping complex sound sequences.

Why It Works: Closing the Loop

Research shows that speech production deficits often persist in older children with dyslexia, particularly for multisyllabic words (Cabbage et al., 2018). SLPs play a critical role here. By helping students master the pronunciation of these "textbook words," they reinforce the phonological map in the brain, which directly supports reading and spelling those same words.
